Can you detect the warning signs in your bathroom?

Certainly there is no place like home, but is your home really a safe place for you to reside in? Contrary to most beliefs, you might be exposed to more harmful allergens when staying indoors. Although you might be protected from most harmful gases such as fumes, chemical gas, smoke and other particles in the air, there is still an equal risk of exposure to such threat in the comfort of your home! This is due to the lack of air circulation in homes that caused the air that you are breathing in to be stale and concentrated of dust and bacteria. This will cause a health problem, commonly known as “Sick Building Syndrome”.

This problem is especially serious in the bathroom, where air is wet and most of the air pollutants are found. The poor air distribution causes bad air to be trapped from within, allowing bacteria and moulds to thrive in such humid and warm conditions. Common sights in bathroom will be dark patches (mould and mildews) forming on floor mats and rugs, yellowish tiles (mildews), black spots on towels (moulds and mildews), peeling paints (excessive moisture) and rusting of metallic objects (excessive moisture). A mixture of toxic vapor emitted from cleaning agents and household chemicals, spores and bacteria from moulds and mildews, and the intense moist air found in bathroom will deteriorate the condition of your bathroom as quickly as it will weaken your health.

However, this problem can easily be resolved by installing a set of ventilation fan, which will significantly enhance air circulation and improve air flow in and out of the bathroom. This will reduce moisture and hamper the growth of moulds and mildews, which in effect, provide a safer and cleaner environment for you to live in.
